Japan vs US - 08-23-2009, 08:01 AM

"There are many reasons why the United States finds itself playing second fiddle to Japan today in so many high-technology areas where American pre-eminence was once unquestioned. Some of the reasons are complex, but one can be put in a statistical nutshell:

Out of every 10,000 Americans, 20 are lawyers, 40 are accountants, and 70 are engineers. Out of every 10,000 Japanese, one is a lawyer, three are accountants -- and 400 are engineers."

What's your point?

Japan excels in electronics and digital entertainment because the country is so small, and the land is poor for any other sort of business, such as expansive farming.

The eternal Saint is calling, through the ages she has told. The ages have not listened; the will of faith has grown old…

For forever she will wander, for forever she withholds; the Demon King is on his way, you’d best not be learned untold…

Japan lacks natural resources, that is why they import everything and make high-quality products for export. It's pretty much their best option.

Yea, I'd concur that it's a combination of culture and how much natural resources are available. Each group is good at certain things and not as good at others, it's covering each others weakness with their own strength, that makes the difference.

Sword arm, shield arm type thing, the shield blocks the sword attacks. While both can do the other, they aren't as effective doing what they weren't built to do. However, the complete soldier has both.

It's a simplistic I know, so don't over read it.

Well that's not really the reason...

Japan excels at it because it invested in developing such industries a while back.

I think it doesn't matter, true we are the land of the free, but.... we should be economically stable and , how do i say, much more educated and not so self-centered. We need to focus on the things that matter most.

The pic added goes to the ones whose ideas are in a box, to the ones who don't give respect to the one who doesn't fit in that box, stereotying one as I am. You'll soon learn your mistake in not getting the chance, because of Your Error to get to know as others have gotten to know, love, respect, and appreciate me for who I am and not for what you aim to make me.

America is not the land of the free. What a stupid assertion.

American democracy is the not as representative as democracy in Europe or other parts of the Western world. Only two parties to choose from for example.

The American media is also ranked behind many other countries as being objective and accurate.

American society is not as racially tolerant as society in Europe or other parts of the Western world either.

Even on the basis that America is a free market society it is not the most free

Country rankings for trade, business, fiscal, monetary, financial, labor and investment freedoms

Ranking of economic freedom

1-Hong Kong
2-Singapore
3-Australia
4-Ireland
5-New Zealand
6-United States of America

This thread seems like a terrible idea just waiting for a troll.
