Global Warming farce? - 11-22-2009, 02:59 AM

For those of you who haven't heard about it, "hackers" recently "broke into" a computer server at the University of East Anglia in the UK. There, the hackers made off with a large number of emails and documents which had been exchanged between UK and US Climate Change scientists.

Uncovered was a intricate conspiracy aimed at manipulating climate data to show that Global Warming was occurring, when in fact, it was not. Scientists exchanged ideas on how to fudge and manipulate data sets and combine them with known information in order to alter trends. http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/index.php/heraldsun/comments/hadley_hacked#63657

Other emails detailed strategies to silence global warming "skeptics": The global warming conspiracy: its silencing of the sceptics | Herald Sun Andrew Bolt Blog

Apparently the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) in Australia didn't believe that Global Warming was occurring quickly enough, so they asked that data be modified even more to make it seem even more scary: The global warming conspiracy: how it massaged data and hid truth | Herald Sun Andrew Bolt Blog

In recent years more than $4 billion (a conservative figure) has been spent on Global Warming research, and to try and find methods to combat it. It looks as though the money was spent merely to frighten the people of the world into giving their governments more power to combat a problem which didn't really exist. The scientists who supported this "theory" were funded by the same governments, being paid to come up with results which suited their sponsors (the "gravy train" as the scientists call it). Your tax dollars hard at work.

These emails not only uncover evidence of a conspiracy to lie to the public, but also show evidence of criminal activity. News stories are reporting that the information was stolen by "hackers", but it's beginning to look more like the information came from a source working within the university itself.

It will be interesting to see which way the media goes with this story. Will a global warming conspiracy sell more news than global warming stories would? That will be the main focus of their attention, of course, facts are irrelevant.

interesting... here is the link to all the email files
Alleged CRU Emails - Searchable
hope to hear back from the institution as to the legitimacy of these files

i just love hearing about possible global warming fraud.. as much as i respect keeping a clean environment i have been appalled that people have gone so far out of their way to comply with a science that has built itself around gaining support in order to gain support in order to gain support and nothing more

if conclusions are found that global warming is a threat and it is contributed to by man, great, if not, great

Good stuff.
A little more detail fox news dug up..

Climate Skeptics See 'Smoking Gun' in Researchers' Leaked E-Mails - Biology | Astronomy | Chemistry | Physics - FOXNews.com

To answer your question... I don't think it will make a bit of difference.
"climate change" is so political that this information will be snuffed out or proven garbage, discredited, spun, or whatever to get Al Gore and the rest back on their gravy train.

another Climate Change issue!
Rice... its killing the planet!!!:

"At between 50 and 100 million tonnes of methane a year, rice agriculture is a big source of atmospheric methane, possibly the biggest of man-made methane sources. The warm, waterlogged soil of rice paddies provides ideal conditions for methanogenesis, and though some of the methane produced is usually oxidized by methanotrophs in the shallow overlying water, the vast majority is released into the atmosphere.

Rice is grown very widely and rates of methane emission may vary greatly between different areas. Differences in average temperature, water depth and the length of time that the rice paddy soil is waterlogged can all result in big regional variations. However, methane emission from worldwide rice agriculture has been well studied in recent years and fairly reliable estimates of global emissions now exist. Emissions from rice paddies can vary hugely during the course of a year.

On average, the rice paddy soil is only fully waterlogged for about 4 months each year. For the rest of the time methanogenesis is generally much reduced and, where the soil dries out sufficiently, rice paddy soil can become a temporary sink for atmospheric methane.
Human Impact:

Clearly, humans are directly responsible for the world's paddy fields and so also for their methane emissions. The expansion of the human population has necessitated increased rice production and so methane emission from this source. There are, though, strategies which may lessen our impact via this greenhouse gas source as outlined below."

Methane - Rice

Got to get Asia spending some green to be green.

good point clint..... methane and ethane are 15-20 x more powerful than CO2 as a global warming agent
let's not forget for one second that plants utilize co2... they do not utilize methane... we have an abundant supply of methane from processed greens in the form of manure.. so y don't we make use of it?

Destroying the planet and causing Global Warming isn't necessarily the same thing!

A lie is a lie except when.... - 11-22-2009, 12:48 PM

Global warming in the sense that Gore wants us to believe may not be true but habitat destruction and pollution definitely are. We don't need to get rid of people, just clean up after ourselves. Is that so hard?

Trees breathe CO2 but do not consume polyester undies.

Really? First of all, Global Warming is a result of something. Looking at the history of the planet, you'll see that Global Warming and Global Cooling are part of the "cycle" if we can call it that. Secondly, unless you believe in the butterfly effect, we can destroy the planet in certain ways without causing a Global effect!
