item about Japanese Space rocket - 01-28-2011, 09:56 PM

Japan Rocket Ferrying Supplies to Space Station | Product Design and Development

anyone here interested in Space and Japans projects?

does anyone want to take a trip to outer Space?

I believe that there was a Japanese woman who went on a trip for refuelling some time last year.
Do you think a time will come when we humans will actually be able to live in Space?

Why not? Perhaps, on lunar surface in special hermetically sealed hubitation modules...

I wonder how soon some of us will take trips out to space as an annual holiday?

Not very soon, I think. Trips into orbit, including visiting the ISS are too expensive for an average person.
They say, Russia is ready to add one or two spare modules, based on design of early Soviet space stations, to create with western partners a space hotel nearby the ISS. It will serve by professional cosmonauts / astronauts.

Every night Earth is hit by tons of rocks, most of them burn in the atmosphere, but on the Moon (no atmosphere) every little projectile wandering around at speeds superior to Mach 10 can collide with the modules. Until we don't develop a way to protect from that, a base on the Moon is just a dream.

We have more chances on a planet, than on a airless satellite.

But orbital space stations consisted of the same habitation modules. Therefore, they are also vulnerable for space junk or rocks. Now we have more than 10 years of active human flights onto low-Earth orbit without serious accidents caused by space junk.

Not really. The idea of being out in space scares the shit out of me. Guess I'm more of a down to Earth kinda girl... LOL -pun intended-
