It is not customary for tips to be accepted for services rendered. There is no tipping at the restaurants, bars, taxis, etc. Some gratuities are included in the price.

It would be nice, though, to be able to hand over a 5000yen bill for a 3000yen meal and leave a good tip. I would do that. Sadly, that's not considered normal behavior.

Mhh. What happens if you do it anyway? ._. They feel insulted or does that just makes you looks like a fool? Because if it's just the second option, you don't really mind their opinion about you and help em anyway : p
