The nation with the most to gain from disorder and destruction in the oil fields of Libya is Russia.

Libyan oil comprises less than 5% of the U.S. oil trade, so it doesn't really impact the U.S. directly. But Russia has been trading heavily in oil futures in Geneva of late and to knock their competitors out of the market, even temporarily, at the hands of others, is an amazingly "lucky" turn of events for them.

And when it comes to greed, how about the idea of a single company buying the entire port of Murmansk? Now that is greed. At least we buy out others product, not set up major ports as private enterprises.
Interesting stuff.

It's funny. There is this Russian news network called "Russia Today" that you can get here in New Zealand (It's a cable news channel like FOX, CCTV, BBC, CNN, DW-TV, France-24 etc).

It's like the Russian FOX news. The way they talk about Russia versus how they talk about the West is really stupid.

They have all these opinion segments about how hypocritical and evil the West is, but when they talk about Russia it's all praise.

It's still a propaganda channel but the staff of Russia Today is much more carefully selected than on FOX counterpart. You can not find on Russia Today such idiots like glen beck explaining reasons of Fukusima disaster using by pots, plates, cups.

Hmmm. just as I expected - a topic shift. Don't care to discuss the Russian oil trade though you brought up the subject of greedy oil companies?

The whole idea is nonsense, and democracy in Libya after it's "revolution" is as likely as democracy in Cuba next week. These "revolutions" in the middle east generally result in one dictator replacing another, and things staying the way they always have been. It is a place where strength is respected more than ideals like democracy or freedom.

Perhaps the UN is looking for another mission to "administer" aid (meaning that it wants to spend billions of dollars of member country's money, allowing UN-chosen contractors to get rich, and then give kickbacks to UN officials).

You folks do realize that if the USA really was an "Agressor" nation, most of you would be under our dominion allready? I grow tired of these silly triades against the "evil" US. Be thankful to whatever diety you hold dear, that the USA isn't like Stalin's Russia.
