Japan donated over 1.5 million to the u.s. for new orleans when hurricane katrina happened. The u.s. is didn't need this either then if what you say is true. but anyway I promise to continue donating for the sake of Japan and for all the families <3

I wonder if they have volunteer groups where others can sign up to take a trip to japan to help out with the searching of people and for dishing out needed supplies?

That's fine. The US as a government can donate money to Japan if it likes. But individual people shouldn't.

Have a look at this website it has other ways people can contribute...
Japan earthquake: How you can help - Time Out Tokyo

Charitable websites all have a volunteer section, they don't send out everyone to the place they work, I believe they have a lot of conditions. You're more likely to be able to do some volunteering within your own country.

I'm not sure which country you are in right now, or how old you are... but if you have a look at the websites for your country they will instruct on how it can be done and what it involves.

This one is just an example

Volunteering Locally
