I was at Nachi Falls, the tallest permanently flowing falls in Japan (there are 2 taller ones that are seasonal, and only flow a few months of the year when the snow is melting, then dry up and vanish). It is in Wakayama-ken, but if you will be in Nagoya, it may be easier to reach by going down the Mie coast.

On this map, you'd get off at the Kii Katsuura station and take a bus a short distance from there :
