Japan in October or November - 08-11-2008, 09:30 AM

I'm planning to go back to Japan sometime October or November this year. I've been to Tokyo, Yokohama etc. and more interested in Kyoto this time. Is three weeks enough to cover the must-see places in the area? Or should I wait 'til Spring next year for Kyoto?

November is good, or maybe further into winter, to see the Golden temple (Kinkakuji) in kyoto.
Its looks really pretty in the snow

Three week is overkill. You need about 3 days to see all thats within Kyoto, another day around it.

Go over to Osaka, Himeji, Kyusjhu and Shikoku if you have that much time. Do also make a stop at Miyajima

I'll be going to Kyoto in October as well for Jidai Matsuri, but because of this festival it seemed many Ryokans were filled (as of a few months ago)
We had to settle for a western style Hotel.

Hopefully your not to picky where you stay if your going around that time...

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm not too picky when it comes to hotels so that wouldn't be a problem.

Yeah I'm most interested in seeing Kinkakuji & Ginkakuji temples. Would've been nicer in Spring with Sakura in full bloom on the background. Picture perfect.

It appears that he is not going to see the temples until spring with sakura being the background, so the same would apply to Kiyomizu.

Aldine what are you going to see there that need 3 weeks? or are you going to be basing yourself there and travel out?
