Going to Japanese concerts - 01-30-2009, 10:39 PM

hey ,
ive been researching some gigs that will be happening while im in japan and have found that many say 1 drink charge included in the price of the ticket.

Does this mean that the gig is Restricted to 20 years and older? Or does it mean just any drink (alcoholic or not) because I'm only 19 and therefore wouldn't be able to get in !

In my experience they do not card in Japan. Although when I was living there I was over the legal drinking age of 20, my youthful appearance was never questioned. It is also a common sight to see high school students drinking in izakaya.

In other words, I don't think you will have a problem.

I have gone to many "drink ticket required" shows with (Japanese) people under 20, so I wouldn't assume that a drink ticket means that the show has age restrictions. And even if it is restricted, if it's a small place, the odds they check are pretty small in Tokyo.
