3 weeks in Japan - 06-04-2009, 04:23 AM

I am headed there June 29th (arrive) - July 17th (Depart):

Give me a scenario that includes everything I want to do and can do as a 26 year old in Japan!

Fill in the blanks.... edit others responses... I don't even know where to start
other than tokyo, kyoto, nara, and osaka?

bonus points if you have me partying somewhere necessary on Fridays and Saturdays (even Thursday if you know a spot)

thanks...

What are you interested in seeing? I have about 22 days myself for my honemoon, we are not into night life, so my itinerary doesn't include any night life, except for a shrine festival in Asakusa on November 12. But otherwise our intinerary includes the following for the 3+ weeks

- Hakata
- Miyajima
- Osaka
- Kyoto
- Hakone (Yumoto - hot spring town)
- Yokohama
- Tokyo area (covers Roppogi, Harajuku, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ueno, Asakusa, Daiba, Ginzam Ikebukuro, Mitaka, Akiba etc etc etc)

Of course you can probably do a lot more if you don't mind a rush trip, I did all these 2 years ago in just 2 weeks. This time around, we want to relax a bit our trip so we are doing these in 3 weeks instead of 2. If I really squeeze it, I can probably fit in Wakayama, Takayama, or even a bit of Hokkaido

Osaka is good if you like your air "Chunky", Kobe has more of that romantic San Francisco feel to it. (light the fires here come the flames)

True to a certain extent, I just didn't find Kobe interesting at all thats all, I did try spending time there, just don't like it. Except for the beef, but then you can have that almost anywhere now...

To me, Osaka has more action and entertainment. And can easily replace Tokyo for people looking for a short trip..

Think of it like one of those tropical south american country, they are not too different, relaxing and all. With the exception of everything geing in Japanese, and if you are in Naha, it is very common to see a group of people practicing karate by the beach
