Japan Tour - 03-05-2010, 03:11 AM

We are planning a 7-10 day trip to Japan in later April early May. We have a friend with a good size apartment in Yokohama that we can use as a base.

What is the best way to cover Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto if we want to stay in our friend's flat and take trains from there?

What are the range and cost of hotels and other accommodation?

You cannot stay in Yokohama and visit Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto as day trips. They are too far away. Tokyo, on the other hand, is fine. About 45 minutes from Tokyo (depending on where you are).

We will go to Kyoto, Nara and Koyasan, so I dont know if it would be too many temples for one trip. Any suggestions?
And 8 minutes later, you said:

Now, you seem to run a travel agency, whose websites I happen to have seen on JF many times before. Why is a pro asking all these basic questions to internet strangers?
