Okinawa - 09-30-2007, 08:08 AM

Hi guys,
how are you?

I have an answer for you.

Have you ever been in Okinawa?
What's it?

Is Japan Rail a means to go to Okinawa or is possible to go there only by air?

Many thanks

Have a great day !!!

Okinawa is a group of islands located far away from the rest of Japan. There is no railroad leading to Okinawa from anywhere. So most people go there by plain, very few by boat. It's much closer to Taiwan than to Tokyo or Osaka.

Okinawa is great because it's semi-tropical and it maintains its own culture. It has beautiful beaches that would make you believe that you are completely outside of Japan.

The normal fare between Tokyo and Naha is 37,400 yen (one way). It might be slightly higher for August, though.

Where do I live? I live in Tokyo.

Your English is fine. Wow Milano, the city of fashion! No, unfortunately I have never been to Italy. I'd like to go there one day, though.

Yes, Milan it the fashion city and in this days there has been a fashion shows.

Yes, Milan is beautiful but I recommend you Rome! It's very great and with more story!

I love USA. I have been in more places in USA but now, I would like to know another part of world and my husband is very curious like me to visit Japan!

Which places in Japan do you recommend me?

I recommend Kyoto and Nara for all the old temples and shirines. I also like Kobe a lot for its cosmopolitan atmosphere. Around Tokyo, probably Hakone for its abundant hot springs and the magnificient views of Mt. Fuji. I don't know how long you will stay in Japan, but I really recommend staying at a ryokan (Japanese inn) for a day or two so you can experience a tatami room. There are lots of ryokan wherever there are hot springs. Nikko might be one place you may want to go to, too. Both Hokkaido and Okinawa are wonderful but they might be a little bit too far from Tokyo.

ok! Tomorrow I post my idea trip!

Yes, I have put Nara, Nikko, Hiroshima and others. In this moment I don't remember all places because it's very difficult to remember

I think to stay in Japan from 6th to 22th August.
If I will put Okinawa...the days is more...

there's not a lot to do in okinawa. they have their one main city which is nara. it's basically a strip of small shops and eateries. other than that, there's a lot of sightsee and that will sum up your trip.

...this is just my perspective on the situation...
