I liked the shots of the headrest video monitors on the plane. I hate those things, the miles and minutes pass far too slowly for me (I've done the to-and-from-Japan gig 4 times now). I'm always so tired on those flights, but I can never sleep, I'm always stuck sitting in the "screaming baby" section of the plane (even when flying first class).

Travel stories are always fun. My own include things like delays, missed connections, cancellations, diversions, misplaced bags, turbulence and lines of airsick passengers at the few toilets...

But they also include meeting interesting people, getting to see and experience unexpected things (often good things) when the itinerary went to hell. And also getting a sink-or-swim chance to use Japanese and find my way around Japan on my own when one of my flights was diverted to Osaka from Tokyo.

Time to start saving your money for your next trip.

Good story, it really incorporates the build-up of anticipation before the trip and the great relief and joy that comes upon arriving.

I personally am in a similar situation to you right now. I wished to go to Japan through a study abroad program, but my university only selects about six people. Let me put that in perspective, out of the 50,000 plus students, they only selecting six people. While I am certain not everybody was applying for the Japanese study abroad program, I knew quite a few personally who were and could only assume there were also quite a few people who I did not know who also applied. So when I got the call from my university saying that I had been accepted, I was ecstatic.

Now that I have completed the majority of the piles of paperwork that was asked of me, all I really have left to do now is count of the months, days, minutes until I leave in September. Everyday I just become more excited; I can't wait to get to Japan.
