Interested on Japanese Painting - 06-30-2009, 06:33 PM

I am interested to learn about Jaapanese traditional painting.

I wish to get in touch with people with same hobby to exchange information, experiences, etc.

I used to travel to Japan and I want to have permanet information about museums and exibitions.

Then you must also take a huge interest in calligraphy.

We did some calligraphy and sumi-e last summer! It's a little embarrassing to show my calligraphy, but...

The bamboo was lots of fun!

We had a great teacher and an awesome time!

Someone tell me when CLAMP will finish X!!??

I took a beginner and advanced sumi-e course at my university in Japan and it was a real blast. Even though my art major has drawn me toward the digital field and away from traditional, going back and practicing an art that's been around for thousands of years was really rewarding!

An interesting thing I learned is that almost every stroke you make in sumi-e to paint a picture is a stroke used in a chinese character, so practicing one will help the other!

What are you talking about? Your images are gorgeous to this untrained eye! I really love the second image with the bamboo. <3

mm, how did you do the bamboo picture? it looks really good, but also very hard. i can never get the shading quite right, and the colours are always hard.
