Sake - 04-25-2009, 05:37 PM

Hi - I edit an online magazine on 2d Codes and QR Codes QR Code and Two dimensional Bar Code News.

Although QR Codes have existed in Japan for a long time it is only now that their potential is beginning to be realized in the West and I am hoping to learn more about specific uses of these codes from knowledgeable forum users.

I have found a Sake brewer who has a QR Code lottery, an excellent use of QR Codes!

Because I cannot read Japanese would someone please explain how the lottery works? For example does each label on the bottle have a different QR Code? Is the each QR Code a different number?

Thank you.

- Roger

I've read the website regarding the lottery. I don't think each bottle has a different code at all. It doesn't have to to do this lottery.

What it says is:

1. The customer is to scan the code with his cellphone.

2. On the cellphone appears the information necessary for the customer to get registered as an cellphone email member.

3. Every once in a while, the sake company will do a drawing among the cellphone email addresses of the members and inform the winners by cellphone email.
