Need help with the name of a snack food... - 03-31-2011, 06:43 AM

Hello all, long time lurker, first time poster. I've been craving a snack I had in Japan when I went 3 years ago, I'm not sure if its still available. it was available in almost all Lawson/7-11 that I went to. It was a roundish bread, but the bread was made up of cubes kind of, like you could pick the cubes off of the entire bread and eat them. It tasted like french toast, and I think it was called french toast bread, or something like that, but if I try to google that I don't get any results. I will draw a (terrible) picture if need be, but any help would be appreciated.

Actual cubes or shallow cuts on the surface?

With cuts that allow you to separate the bread into cube-like portions.

Comes in actual cube-like pieces.

With bread, you need to give as much info as possible because Japan has incomparably more kinds of breads than most other countries.

No, not any of those. The thing is one one solid piece of bread, but you can separate the cubes that are on top of it. This is so frustrating to try and explain ><

It was a circular bread, like anpnan or melon bread would be, but in the middle portion of it, instead of it being one solid thing, it was made up of cubes that you can break off and eat. The bread itself was very soft and sticky and tasted like maple syrup or french toast.
