As far as I know the "zu" you actually get when you type it is correct! The "sa" column of the hiragana table makes 's' into 'z' when you add a tenten (the " like mark). How you get "tsu" with a tenten is by typing in "du" because the "ta" column becomes "da" with a tenten.

Okay, that sounded a little messy in words, but did you get the meaning?

Anyway, about your grammer problem, I don't know of any books that are going to tell you the grammer of Japanese games, but maybe the open courseware on MIT is a start...?

Free Online MIT Course Materials | Foreign Languages and Literatures | MIT OpenCourseWare

Look for the courses about Japanese and you can get all of the course materials right online.

I use "A Dictionary of Basic Japanese Sentence Patterns" by Naoko Chino. You can preview a good portion of the book here -> Dictionary of Basic Japanese ... - Google Book Search

I'm not sure if that's the type of thing you're looking for, but I think it's a great book.

Hi! - 01-13-2008, 03:45 PM

Juding from what you said, I infer you puzzle about Japanese nuance, not?
Do you know the corp (or it's department) named "Kodansha Internatinal"?
With the publication of it's books, you may read through these books.
(I don't know the bookstore in your country allows you to read with no permission.)

The book I use to learn grammar is called 'Understanding Basic Japanese Grammar' by Nishiguchi Koichi. Yeah, the title of it implies basic Japanese, but that's basic Japanese to the nihonjin. The grammar actually gets pretty advanced and along with grammar practices, it also really forces you to dust up on kanji. I just finished my fourth year of Japanese study where we constantly reviewed 'x ni naritai desu' and 'short form adjective base+ku narimashyou' and this book goes far beyond that, perhaps it will help you.

I understand the meaning but not all the grammar in some sentences For example:
 同じ城内(じょうない)にありながら、僕は数(かぞ)えるほどしか父と顔を合わせたことがない。
Dont know What form of ある is ありながら & What's しか
