Typing kana? - 05-27-2008, 01:32 AM

Kon'nichiwa!

I'm learning Japanese (attempting to teach myself), and it's extremely annoying that my computer doesn't allow me to type in Japanese kana. So I was wondering if anybody knows a way that I can easily type in kana... like, maybe a helpful website or program? Right now all I can think of to do is to copy and paste characters one by one from wikipedia... slow work to say the least.

Arigato gozaimasu!

I know, I've tried multiple times before T_T

Thanks though!

The problem is, for me to install text support, I have to do updates to my Windows, and because mine is from a disc my dad got from his work, it won't let me. So I'm trying to find another way...

To put it better I guess... I have a "bad" install CD so I can't install the East Asian Languages

Ages ago I used to use this program: JWPce Support Information

Maybe it'll help you out a bit. I'm not sure how to install the Microsoft IME if you aren't able to do updates, although I thought you could install the Japanese language pack right off the Windows disk (without using MS Update).

Yeah I remembered that updates was something I had tried after finding out that my Windows disc was bad. So neither work for me T_T

I'll check out that program, thanks.

Are you sure you're not using a bootleg copy?

You could always try borrowing a friend's disc, provided your windows isn't the OEM variety.

That's exactly what I'm using >.< It's one my dad made for me.
But it's alright, I'm liking the program that Hatredcopter recommended
