Kai name meaning PLEASE HELP - 08-16-2008, 04:45 AM

Hello, my name is Kai and I am a girl. My parents named me Kai after the Hawaiian meaning 'ocean.' I heard it had a lot of meanings in Japanese and I was looking for some help. I have no specific kanji for my name, but I am looking for one. Any help will be much appreciated.

One meaning is indeed ocean in Japanese.

Do you know the kanji? Or any other meaning?

There are lots of other words pronounced "kai" but most are not used as names.

I looked it up and saw other meanings such as rank, world, and ashes. Can they be used as names?

A native Japanese would be best to answer that. It also means times, floors (of a building), lump, ... but they aren't names. Like "stew" is different from
"Stu".

Okay. Could you recommend any native speakers on this site? Thank you very much!
