The GOD of hirigana tutors, in my opinion. :D There are silly (but dead useful) mnemonics for each character, and with each new hirigana you learn, you learn how to write some everyday words! The best part is the flashcards!!!!!

I find this topic right after I spend hours making Hiragana flashcards XD

Genki I ~ An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese 1 Textbook
this textbook might cost a bit... but it's really useful. It starts of with the basics like greetings and after a few chapters it starts teaching kanji.
There's also CDs that can be bought off Jbox that help with speaking.

translation page

Hi everybody...

Thanks for all the good site adwise... I've tried them all, but... since I'm a beginner I only read/understand japanese in roman letters. Therefor I would like to ask you, if you know any translation pages, where you can translate an english text into japanese but written in roman letters... Is that possible... I hope you understand my english, since I'm not a native speaker and therefor make a lot of mistakes...

Anyway, I hope can help me... If anybody can it's you guys I'm sure!!! ;)

Mata ne...
Nina.

Mango Beta Launched!

Just found this today, offers voice clips, and slides of various languages including Japanese. Just started looking through it, but it looks pretty good, and it's free.
