"亭主の好きな赤烏帽子:ていしゅのすきなあかえぼし TEISHU-NO SUKI-NA AKA-EBOSHI;The chairman of the family likes red cap"

These days, "TEISHU"usually means hasband. But 100 years ago and earlier, it means person of the highest position of the family.

EBOSHI is a traditional cap like this. It is usually in black.

However, if the TEISHU likes red EBOSHI, every one in the family must accept it though it is very strange for them.

"頭隠して尻隠さず:あたまかくしてしりかくさず;ATA MA KAKUSHI-TE SHIRI KAKUSA-ZU;Hiding head but hip being exposed"

After hiding head, one could convince he was hidden enough but he forgot he does not hide his hip.

This phrase is quoted when someone failed to hide something because he did not completely hide enough to hide the matter.
