Help with translation- リゾード

Hey guys!

I know this might sound totally random, but im playing this game called リゾード (Riz-oawd) for the NDS, and its all in japanese basically.

And im kinda stuck...
I was hoping someone can help me translate this. I think its some kind of a riddle, but unfortunatly my kanji vocabulary is quite limited at this point hehe :P

It says:

"To go through this gate, you need an 'ice board pass' and a 'crystal ID'."

How can you play what looks like to be an RPG without understanding what's going on? Isn't the fun of an RPG the story? Also, I can't imagine beating a game like Zelda without being able to read various characters' tips throughout the game.

LOL I started playing Japanese RPG almost 25 years ago on my old MSX

I knew nothing of Japanese, but you finish the games anyway. With time you start learning words and figure out phrase construct...then you start buying grammar books, dictionaries...and you get addicted. Man if I just didn't get discouraged back then now I would have been studying Japanese for 25 years...sigh, what a waste of time

You're right, but with current localization issues, theres no way id wait for this game to come out in english...
basically its the story of the wizard of Oz. So what is there to know?
I bet dey got a twist in it, but most of the game is actually action... so all you have to do is how to maneuver the menus. which was pretty easy with any begginer lever of japanese IMO.
And btw I managed to solve that riddle with my poor japanese after all

If its story I seek, obviously ill play the english games... theres no question about it...
