Hi, I have a couple of questions regarding the following phrases.

First of all, I would like to know if "学課" would have been a better choice of word instead of "授業" for number 1.

Secondly, what I don't understand is that why was "授業" used instead of "教室"?



１．前回の授業を復習する
review a previous lesson

２．授業で習ったことを復習する
review the things that one has learned in class

学課 would be impossible because it means the whole course of study, which usually lasts a year in Japan (it lasts for a term at some schools). One simply cannot say 前回の学課.

Do you even know what 教室 means? It means the physical classroom; It doesn't mean a lesson. It's much more natural to say 授業で習ったこと.

I get the hang of it now. Do you mind explaining そのままにします to me because it sounds more like a phrase than verb to me. For example, I ask my mom if I should wash the dishes and she say: そのままにします (Leave it as it is). I was wondering if there are more meanings than that?

Of course it's not a verb. That is 3 words!

It means "to leave something as is", "leave something untouched", etc. The more natural and often-heard phrase, though, is そのままにしておく.

You won't really hear そのままにします.

Could you provide me with a few examples? よろしくお願いします.

「虫歯はすぐに治した方がいい。そのままにしておくと もっと悪くなる。」　　虫歯（むしば） = cavity.

「おもちゃを片付けなさい。そのままにしておいたら部 屋の中歩けないでしょう。」

「間違った発音をそのままにしておくと、後から直すの が大変になるよ。」

「寝る前にエアコンは消さなくてもいいよ。そのままに しておいても１―２時間後に自動的に消えるから。」

１．虫歯はすぐに治した方がいい。そのままにしておく と もっと悪くなる。　
You had better treat the cavity soon. It will become much worse if you left it untreated.


２．おもちゃを片付けなさい。そのままにしておいたら 部屋の中歩けないでしょう。
Tidy up your toys! You are unable to walk in the room if you leave them as they are.


３．間違った発音をそのままにしておくと、後から直す のが大変になるよ。


４．寝る前にエアコンは消さなくてもいいよ。そのまま にしておいても１―２時間後に自動的に消えるから。
You need not turn off the aircon before you go to bed. Because it will turn off automatically 1-2 hours later.

Are you sick? That is what you say to a doctor. Use the plain 見る.

#3 means "If you leave your incorrect pronunciation as is, it will be hard for you to correct it later on."

The rest are all good.
