参加する vs. 出席する

Hi, could someone kindly explain to me the difference between 参加する vs. 出席する? I had just came across 参加する recently and thanks for explanations from masaegu san, I now understand the difference between 出ます and 参加する as participate and attend. But 出席する also stands for "attend" so I was wondering if there is a difference between the two (参加する vs. 出席する)?


明日の会議に参加する。
明日の会議に出席する。

友達のパーテイーに参加する。
友達のパーテイーに出席する。

クラス会に参加する。
クラス会に出席する。


Do forgive me for typing party incorrectly as I couldn't remember the correct English alphabets for party in romaji.

In other words, you just turn up to a meeting or class etc. (Attend)

さん‐か【参加】
ある目的をもつ集まりに一員として加わり、行動をとも にすること。「討論に―する」「―者」
In other words, you join in with a gathering that has some purpose and participate in the activities. (Participation)
