How to write your name in Japanese

If your name is Wendy, I would write it: ウェンディ

That's how I write it on paper, the way you did it.

Online it shows my name as ジョイー　but my penpal writes it as ジョーイ. Which way would be right? My name is Joseph, but I go by Joey. (Frankly, I like the way my penpal does it better.)

I would write it ジョーイ. That way it is JO-ey and not jo-EY.

Katakana spellings are about pronunciation, not about English spelling. That's a good translation for Evelyn.

OK, so if my name, Joseph, means "god will enlarge," what would be my true Japanese name? One site I found said it would simply be "Jo," but I'm not convinced.

For example, if I took the name "Amy," it's meaning is "beloved." This person's Japanese name could be "Suki," which has the same meaning "beloved." (At least the website I found tells me that it means "beloved." ^^
