Not anywhere near all his films are horror! The only ones that I've seen that I would call horror are One Missed Call, and Audition. And he even denies that Audition is horror!

I would say most of his films are yakuza probably...I'm not so sure about comedy but I assume he's done quite a bit since he's workedf with nearly ever genre.

I'll have to be sure to see dead or alive, I want to put it on my netflix que but it's becoming impossible to put anything on my netflix que and veiw it within the same year.

I've seen 3 extremes too. I just didn't mention it because Miike only directed one of the films in it.

I have already mentioned all of the other ones you linked to as well. Except for neighbor 13. Looks good.

Saw Gozu yesterday, I think it's the most bizzare film I've ever seen.

It is bizarre, and is one of his best, in my opinion. I think it works better than some of his experiments.

The Bird People in China (maybe the only good Miike Japanese Film) - 02-23-2008, 10:30 PM

I am far from being a Miike enthusiast, but I must say The Bird People in China was a delightful movie. (I gave it 4 Siberians out of 5 in my review)

I find it a little sad that Miike feels compelled to make the violent trash that he is more generally known for. Even his Power Ranger-esque movie, The Great Yokai War, was sadly warped in its unpleasant and unnecessary use of violence.

Just my take on things. :-)
