Suggestions for crazy J-movie? - 08-24-2008, 09:02 PM

I have been watching a lot of Japanese movie lately and I have to say I am loving them. The best ones are those that you watch for 2 hours and then think about for a week haha. I am talking about those movies where you have to think about life or others that just really screw with your mind.
My favorites so far are:

Suicide Club 1,2
Premonition
1 Litre of Tears

All four of those made me think a lot. Soo basicaly I am asking you if you know any other titles that really put you into deep thaught. Any genre works (thriller, drama, horror etc.) as long as its mind blowing xD.

Please share your favorites, so that I can watch and disscuss them with you.

"Deep thought."
That would somewhat depend on what one values most in life.
People have different interests, so different things would provoke thought for different people.

I don't really have any recommendations at the moment. This is just something I thought you should consider.

Every month the Japanese embassy here puts on a free J-movie for people to go and see.

The last one I saw was titled in English "The face of Jizo". In Japanese it was called 父と暮らせば or "living with dad" (?)

The cool thing about this movie for me was that when I left the embassy I only thought it was only an OK movie... but for some reason the movie stuck with me and now that I think about it and the characters and the situation it was really touching.

I don't know if you'll have the same experience but that's my two cents

For sure!

I really can't pick a favourite as each movie is special and good in it's own way.

The movies I've seen of theirs are

-Spiritied away
-Princess Mononoke
-Only Yesterday
-Grave of the Fireflies
-Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind
-My Neighbour Totoro
-Kiki's Delivery Service

According to my Japanese friend studying here a new one has just been released in Japan!!!
