[German] Rammstein

Rammstein is a german industrial metal band which is super awesome!!

"ich will"
YouTube - Ich will (English subtitles)

"ohne dich"
YouTube - Ohne dich (English subtitles)

"sonne"
YouTube - Sonne (English subtitles)

"Du hast"
YouTube - Du hast (English subtitles)

"mein teil"
YouTube - Mein Teil (English subtitles)

"amerika"
YouTube - Amerika (English subtitles)

Du Riechst So Gut '98
YouTube - Rammstein "Du Riechst So Gut" Video

Du Riechst So Gut (this should be the correct link)
YouTube - Rammstein

there's Moskau... but I don't know for sure which link is right, and youtube's decided to be stupid again, so I can't find out. (and please don't change the spelling, as it is correct)

Aniki 03-14-2009 10:51 PM

They're industrial metal (Neue Deutsche Härte - to be precise) band, not heavy metal.

Also often referred to as "Tanz-metal". However, saying that they are not "Heavy metal" is not quite precise, since "Industrial metal" is widely accepted as one of the subgenres of "Heavy metal". Buuuut let's just leave the categorization to the guys who sort CD's in the music shops, shall we? X)

Anywho, it used to be a pretty decent band, which I used to listen to quite a lot while in HS. I don't know about nowdays - haven't heard of them much lately. (Their last album, Rosenrot, was released when? Back in '05?)

And correct me if I am wrong (can't see the video in the link), but isn't "Augen auf" a song by Oomph!?

Pexster 03-16-2009 08:13 AM

Rammstein is FreaKen AwEsome. xD

But anyhew. Been Listening to them for quite a few years.

Sorry I just had repost this song.

One of my favs. O_O'

Polar 03-16-2009 08:30 AM

Seen them a couple of times live.

THEY FLAT OUT ROCK !

The songs may not mean what you think they do. If you haven't read the english translations of 'em.

CrazyLee 03-16-2009 11:47 AM

I was stupid enough to read the English translations a few years back. That and having had to sit through 5 years of German as a secondary school language course (I really hated having to do those classes...I mean, I'm never going to go to need it.....) meant I have a roughly goodish idea of what the songs are about...

So know I cant listen to them without laughing a little. especially when you get songs like Mein Teil, Buck Dich, and Rein Raus ;)

Aquilus 03-16-2009 04:12 PM

That was me. I can't watch it right now, but I would think so. Thank you.

Aquilus 03-16-2009 10:42 PM

Np, i think i know all Rammstein songs so it wasn't difficult at all

Oni 03-16-2009 11:07 PM

I love Rammstein! especially "Links 2 3 4" (Left 2 3 4) and "Ohne Dich" (Without You). I hum "Engel" (Angel) and "Stirb Nicht Vor Mir" (Don't Die Before Me) all the time... And if they come to the U.S I'm gonna go see them.

Their official website stated that their new album should come out this autumn.

Too many pyrotechnics...

And yeah, Rammstein's good. I like Keine Lust und Moskau best.
And I like actually knowing what they're saying, sometimes their
lyrics freak me out though... XDD

Aquilus 03-17-2009 12:46 PM

the live shows are really awesome.
But they are full of pyrotechnics and blood so not anyone likes it ;-)
because of the blood it's not allowed to go there if youre under 18 if i remember right (at least in germany)

:)

I know quite few, but probably not all.
My dilemma though, is youtube not always working. When I search for a video, and then play it, it causes my browser to close. That's why I couldn't get a link I was sure was correct. If I do the recommendations it's fine though.

angelico 03-20-2009 10:06 AM

i like those songs but my fav's are "Du Hast" and " engel".

:D

Aquilus 03-21-2009 02:45 PM

one more thing i like on Rammstein is that the often play woth words and pronounciation

for example in this song:

YouTube - Du Hast - Rammstein Lyrics and English Translation

at the beginning he yust say "du has[s]t mich"
wich means: you hate me

later he says "du hast mich gefragt"
wich means: you have asked me

in german the difference between hate and have is just one more 's',
(in the 2nd person singular)
"du hast", you have
"du hasst", you hate
moreover it sounds the same because you don't speak the 2nd 's'

but that you can only understand if you speak german. in the most tranlations the silmly write "you have" all the time

theres another band named "Die Ärzte"(The Doctors) wich plays with the words too. there at least one of the most popular bands here but they never got famous outside of german speaking countries because it's boring if you don't understand the text and the text isnt the same anymore if you translate it
This is one of the songs you can understand even if its translated
YouTube - Die Ärzte - Rebell (English subtitles)

last one are "Die Toten Hosen" wich means 'The dead Trousers'
this is one of the newest songd called "Strom"(electricity)
YouTube - Die Toten Hosen - Strom *ofizielles Video*
(didn't find a subbed version)

you dont have to
nearly noone in non german countries knows that, because you only have a chance to know if you understand german or someone tells you

well at first i am german and i hear much music so i istened to many songs very carefull

moreover if i hear something i keep an eye on in with wich words and pronounciation it is said because this sais more than the words itself, in my oppinion

at last im always interestet in the backgrounds of thomething if i hear a good band i try to get their history. helpfull to that is a tv show in germany called 'MTV Masters' wich reports about a spechial band for one hour every week

if you add these things it's very easy to say something about the texts of a special band

i also was on some concerts of all three bands

By saying 'he is russian' I ment that the GUY who is singing in the video Excessum posted IS russian. If you were the Rammstein fan like you were talking about, you'd have no problem to realize that it wasn't Till Lindermann singing there.

Pexster 03-22-2009 12:56 AM

I think she knows.

Hmmm...........okay, you have to ask her about that.(even though you have the evidence in front of me)>.<" You win for now.
