First of all people; its hide, not hyde HIDE or Hide.. hehe. Hyde is a total different person.

For those who don't want to hear (read) about it I'm warning you, I'm now telling the story about Hideto's death. *sob*
So, sensitive fans: avoid the text below.

hide's death

Hide died on May 2, 1998 in his Tokyo apartment. A roommate put him to bed after a night of drinking, but when she went to check on him an hour later he was not in his room. He was found hanged with a ripped towel in his apartment bathroom, the towel tied to the doorknob. He was barely alive when the ambulance arrived, and later died in the hospital. He was thirty-three years old.

There is much debate as to the true nature of hide's death. Some say it was an accidental death, explaining that he was drunk. Hide was known for performing stunts in attempts to scare others, and some suspect his death to be a stunt gone wrong. Others bring up the suicide of INXS lead singer Michael Hutchence, who was reputed to have died from hanging in an attempt to gratify himself through autoerotic asphyxiation, as a possible explanation.

Taiji, who played in X Japan with hide for several years, offered a possible explanation for hide's death in his book X no Sei to Shi: Uchuu wo Kaeru Tomo e. He explained that, after performing shows, the band members would often tie towels around their shoulders and necks to relieve muscle stress. Taiji implies that Hide had most likely tied a towel on in such a manner (and one can subsequently assume that he had fallen against the door and was ultimately unable to free himself). Although many fans support Taiji's suggestion, others have preferred to see hide's death as a purposeful incident, not wanting to see it as an accident. Although he left no suicide note, these fans have speculated that his song "Pink Spider" was a musical suicide note (the song was hide's final single and music video released before his death. It features a woman jumping off a building to her death).

Ah, so it is not the HYDE I am thinking of...Thank you for clearing this up!! But it is still sad...I would be scared to hang myself...Something would go wrong, knowing me, and I would not die, just be in terrible pain...lol

Oh, please, check some things out before you panic about Hyde's death. I'm sure that several netsites would have written about it, for example Wikipedia. hide and Hyde should NOT be confused to each others. hide's death is one piece of some sort of basic knowledge. And sorry for those who might get hurted about what I said, but hide is very close to my heart and I get a bit pissed off everytime I see someone confusing hide to Hyde.

I, myself, believe in suicide. I believe in theorie that when Taiji left X, hide started to spend more and more time with Yoshiki. Toshi perhaps got jealous of Yoshiki and maybe because of that left X and at the same time broke it up. After X's break-up hide's life took downhill way - though he had successfull solo career, his best friends were gone. Yoshiki was in Los Angeles and other X's members were doing their own businesses. Taiji hadn't been along for years.

hide might have been alone, when his best friend weren't with him anymore. It pisses me off when people say that he was so perfect, because he wasn't. I'm sure that he made lots of mistakes and he wasn't faultless. I think that under his cover he was as lost as is any person in this world, and tired and perhaps a bit bitter, too.

I think that perhaps hide planned suicide for a long time. When he died at the age of 33, everyone remembers him as young and beautiful and immortal hide, not as old and ugly. He made certain that people's images of him stayed clean and un-ageing.

Oh Christ. I remember when I downloaded X Japan songs and a few hide songs randomly. I didn't know hide was even dead.
This was a few years back. XD So I downloaded and was all "these are fun songs. Sad but fun."

At the time I had Longing, Tears and Scars by X.
And LEMONed I scream and Goodbye by hide.

When I saw that he was dead I was just shocked.
Mainly due to the way the songs were (mostly Longing, Tears and Goodbye). It was frightening how sad they were.

Then I went on youtube and watched the funeral and was depressed. xD

Which reminds me, I need to make a shirt of him for hide memorial day. (:
