I really like Battle, but they are suspending activities, cause two members are going into the military...that seems to happen a lot with these Korean boybands.

Seikima-II is my favorite J-Rock/Visual Kei band, and quite possibly one of my favorite bands of all time.

Seikima-II's albums are typically done in the style of metal or hard rock, though they dabble in multiple genres across their 50 (soon to be 51 with 'Akuma Nativity--Songs of the Sword' coming out in September) combined albums and singles.

My favorite Seikima-II album is either 'Ponk!!' or 'Big Time Changes'--at least, those are the albums I listen to the most. It's really hard to pick a favorite because all of their albums are amazing.

A great J-hip hop band is Rip Slyme. I am only really familiar with their song 'Super Shooter' but have listened to samples of their other work and love them.

Rip Slyme seems to be a very solid group. I am usually not a big fan of hip hop or rap, but they are a group whose albums I would collect.

~Seikima-II Albums Owned: 12; Needed: 11
~Seikima-II Singles Owned: 26; Needed: 1
--Does anyone have 'Big Time Surrender'?

ROCK IN THE KINGDOM!

Japanese Hip Hop - 08-25-2009, 09:51 PM

Hey guys. I'm from germany and I like nearly every kind of music. Rock, Metal, Death Core, Jazz, Classic, Acoustic, House, Electro, Minimal, Balkan Muisc, music from another cultures, Rap, Indie, 20ies - today, Folk, Pop and so on... But I have one request about japanese Hip Hop. I'm not (well.. not really well) informed about it and so I would like to know more about it and it would be very helpful if anybody (it doesn't matter if you're japanese or not) could tell me some artists or something like this. Anything would be great and helpful. : )

You could try Rip Slyme and Jun Seba (aka Nujabes) to start with, I'm afraid I don't know of many artists myself but I like those 2.

Jun Seba - Instrumental

Rip Slyme - Time to go

Charts Discussion. - 08-27-2009, 04:51 PM

I couldn't find one and this is kind of a way for me to get some easy available Japanese music for listening to help with my learning and to help get an understanding of what the current Japanese music scene is like. So let's discuss the current Japanese singles chart here.

I'll try and start and even though I am unknowledgeable.

I really like the new Tegomass single 'Tanabata Matsuri'. Catchy stuff.

Help me all you people more into this than I am.
