Tried it a few times. Andrenaline inducing mayhem. Pain on the tyres though. But to drift like dk in tokyo drift, that would be a dream come true.

I love drifting, but it's very dangerous (except at high speeds and on mountain paths), if the police catches you you got your license burned instantly, it puts a lot of stress on your tires (and we all know they're damn expensive) and on your car in general... I used to drift quite a lot in the past when I was a young and reckless car lover, now I do it sometimes. I'd like to get a car only for circuit racing and drift there somewhere in the future.

About drift cars. Automatic shifts are simply shit (with an automatic you can't put in a low gear before entering a corner and then add gas causing your car to slide), and rear wheel drive cars are the best for drifting (you can drift with a 4wd, but only at high speeds and have to control the car in a completely different way).

I love drifting but never did it only on video games. But the bad part about drifting is when you drift it shreds your tires...

we use to beat up and shift in my friends 240sx and my other buddies Bimmer

since they are the only 2 of the group who have rwd cars

i cant really drift now cuz i drive a old mercedes and sold my SER Spec V

hopin to pick up a wrx and start playing around again.

Wow, Im new to this site, but have been into drifting for about 5/6 years or so now, and I'm suprised how many ill-informed people there are on here!

Automatics better for drifting, whaaat??

All you need to drift is a rwd car and a nice, open space to practice in, preferably at a track

The easiest and best way to learn is in a RWD car with the basics:

1. Bucket seat
2. LSD
3. Upgraded striffer/lower suspension

also, get some option and drift tengoku DVDs, or get a hold of a copy of the 'drift bible' - an informative DVD made by Keiichi Tsuchiya (the drift king) that describes all the basics.


and people, before you go on the internet claiming to be the next drift king, do a little research, more than just watching Tokyo Drift and Initial D so it looks like you know what you're talking about

ivi0nk3y, be honest, you've never 'drifted' have you? If you had, you'd probably know that FTO's are FWD, NOT RWD lol

yay i dont feel like a loner anymore!!! good to know theres at least 1 other member on the site that has car knowledge! oh but one little correction. i found it easier to just to practice on my own and not watch the videos. when i watched "drift bible" it realy made me over think all the manuvers but i guess in the long run its kind of payed off.

Yeah I know what you mean, its kinda easier to 'learn as you drive' but I think the drift bible is a good intro to the basics for people who havent tried drifting or dont know the basics

drifting is a gift that not everyone has. i love it, and im in the learning process of it right now. i have always wanted to meet one of the guys from team falken. anyway, im surprised that this thread isnt talked about that much, because i hear that a lot of japenese people love drifting. if anyone here is willing to teach me how to drift, just pm me.
