Popular MMO-Games in japan

Hi, my question is simple, is there any MassMultiplayerOnline Game in japan that is really popular? I mean, what kinds of games do they play there? =) And is Aion well known in japan?

I really would like to know cause it would be interessting to play with some japanese guys an online game so I (and others who read this

) find friends there, getting help with learning the language from nativ speakers and have some fun

my friend says "i only know of one MMO in japan that people play normally, and that's FFXI. so far, all of the other MMOs are american based and thus only americans play it. there are the occasional japanese or chinese or other asian person who plays WoW only to farm money on the game and then sell it for real money in real life."

didn´t know there is a final fantasy that´s online^^ how is it to play? =) and aion is korean i think and really looks like an asian game, the graphic is very good, and the classes are in some way simpel

he plays ffxi actually. it's been out for 6 years since the japan release

i heard from it, but it seems to be a game there you farm and lvl alot and so on, it doesn´t seem to be very funny at all for my taste^^

does any1 knows about online games in japan? =) i really would like to play there and i know that warhammer online is there (even if only with 4 servers^^) but an more popular game would be great

All I know is that there's no Japanese WoW servers.
If you want to play WoW there, you have to get the American version.

I' m really thinking about getting Final Fantasy XI, I' ve been playing Guild Wars lately not much into WoW, a little too cartoony for me...
