It means "to teach" or "faith" in Japanese (as in Buddhist faith). I am not sure what deeper meaning you are looking for. It comes from Chinese, but I don't know what it means in Chinese.

it's something along that line also. since the real meaning of it in chinese just means "religion" "teachings" (kind of like what you said, like enlightenment type of issues), "to teach" ..

hope that helps...

I don't know what KYO is, but in Japanese it has the meanings I described. If you want to stretch it "faith" and "teaching" are about showing a path, but don't think this is some secret character with a secret meaning.
