More to the topic:

I'm living in an area where there are a lot of earthquakes; an area near to San Francisco. (If you're not familiar with it, it is almost famous for it's earthquakes)
There are natural disasters almost everywhere in the world.
Of course, you could live life running away from them... Or you could keep it at the back of your mind and do something productive or even fun.

I recommend the latter.

Earthquakes reach the news abroad so you may get the impression that many people die from them, but in my 3 years in Japan, the number of casualties has been low (sadly I probably wouldn't be saying that if I lived in China right now).

Most modern homes have some sort of shock-absorbing foundations (even some old wooden temples do, amazingly).

Having said that, I think they are expecting a big one in the Kanto area (around Tokyo) sometime in the next decade or so. Hope I wrong on that one.

Get a good book, and start with the Joyo Kanji, or another method to make it systematic. NEVER GIVE UP.

Study every day and don't give up, meet Japanese online, in person, or practice with anime or Japanese dramas and keep working. Take college courses if they're available, but whatever you do, don't give up.

If you stay persistent you'll learn a language. Humans learn language naturally, and if you don't dwell on your difficulties and keep at it, you'll learn.

thanks, i already have been watching Jdramas and it helps me say things right and i have a japanese book but its still kinda hard, but i wont give up
