im in Japan! - 02-08-2009, 10:25 AM

Hello everyone!

Im currently in Japan. I have been here for 3 weeks now and im living with a Japanese host family, which is awesome!

Im looking for a tatoo artist around Osaka or even better nishinomiya or Hanshin area. Anyone know of any? Is it even possible to find one for a foreigner like me?

And also. Any tips on things i should see? Ive been to Osaka castle and Nara and i really recommend a visit!

Thanks

Be careful. Tatoos have a much more negative connotation here than in Western countries. You can rule out going anywhere like public swimming pools or bathhouses, and you may even get dirty looks at the beach.

Welcome to Japan.

Yeah, I can't imagine your host family would approve of their charge getting a tattoo either...

Nishinomiya, my old stomping grounds...check out the shopping stalls under the rails between Kobe and Sannomiya stations. Kyoto station is pretty spectacular, too. I like Monkey Mountain in west-Kyoto. I assume you saw the Great Buddha in Nara...

Yes I saw the great Buddha while I was in Nara and I really liked it. Monkey Mountain sounds interesting. Where in Nishinomiya did you stay?

Near JR Koshienguchi station, and next door at Tachibana.

Kyoto Guide | Travel | Day trips | Monkey mountain

I wouldn't go in summer, because the hike up is not short, but it would be pleasant in the spring.
