How to find lost friends in Japan - 06-28-2007, 07:04 PM

Hi folks.

Does someone here have any pointers on how to track down living persons in Japan?

I'm trying to locate an old friend of mine. We lost contact in 1989. I know her name and the name and possible occupation of her two brothers. Also have her then adress in Hiroshima.

I have tried to "google" her name to no awail. I get way to many hits. I can rule out many of them as not being about her. They are about males, too young persons, too old persons or has a picture in the article wich is not of here.

You can find the story about how we two met in my introduction. It's on page 257.

Thanks for your help.

the best option is to go to the prefectural office, they have records there. But I doubt they are going to give that to a stranger.

I agree, official records is the best source for this type of information. However, since i live in nothern Norway it's kinda lang walk to Hiroshima. And besides, those records are most likely not open to the general public.

I was thinking more like online phonelistings, alumnilists and such.

Finding a lost friend is very difficult task for anybody but there are so many sites are available in the market which provide you different services for finding anything in this whole world. They have large collection data for different people of different country like their residential address, phone number, birth date, email id and many more. So through this sites you can able to find your friend, relatives and any other people's information very easily.

I wonder do they have electoral rolls in Japan?

Or lists of names and addresses?

we have an info disc that used to be published annually-- that helped in searches for People residing in UK-- but Japan-- I have no idea.

There are lots of online listing bu tnot everyone wishes to be found or even known. Privacy is important to many.

thereby hangs a tale. Many children were separated from their siblings or families and adopted etc.

I have been able to help some of those and it is heartrending but does not always work out.
