I'm confused about Japanese currency. Only because there prices have so many zeros! Over here in America, a lot of zeros means a lot of money. So is it kinda different in Japan?

Like for example, what is 5000 in yen, in dollers?

Think of the price in yen as though it were the price in dollars and cents without the decimal point.

So 10.00 dollars becomes 1000 yen. That is the easiet way to think of it even though right now 10,000 yen actually is worth like 84 dollars. But you forget that pretty quick when living here.
