All at once, in a row.

So like if I go now for 3 month, then a few month later for another 3 month etc, that wouldn't count towards the total time?

That's visiting the country, not living in it. Why the heck would someone give you permanent residency status for visiting enough times? Common sense would say no.

I've been to Tokyo once in my entire life. I hate the place. Can't help you.

I second the opinion. Tokyo is crowded, hectic, and dirty.
Tokyo is Tokyo - Japan is Japan. Tokyo is a very limited representation of the country, and is quite different from everywhere else... And not in a positive way.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

10 year residence is pretty tight to be honest. :/
In the UK you need to have a good record for 3 years.

That should get you residence.

Yup basically sums it all up. When people tell me that they'll be visiting but they're staying in Tokyo the entire time I always tell them that they're not really visiting Japan then.

Tokyo is just another HUGE city... its bright and nice sure, but you get that in LA, you get that in New York..... I actually prefer Osaka and Yokohama over Tokyo in terms of "City" travel, but I am more of a Nikko/Hakone guy
