Hi im new.... want to learn japanese

Well, instead of words I can give you the name of a program. If I remember correctly its 'bonjour' japanese. Taught me a little more than I do.

But in the meantime...konnichiwa is hello, Ohayoo is good morning, Kombanwa is good afternoon, and my favourite- Oyasuminasai is goodnight.

"konnichiwa" is good afternoon, not hello. Just wanted to clear that up so someone doesn't think you're an idiot when you say good afternoon at 7:00 AM

Konnichiwa is Hello and Good Afternoon. With all due respect, my friend ... helped me at least learn that much. :vsign:

Banana and Tomato are the same as English with a slight accent, and tomato is spoken using the british 'a' sound which is 'ah'.

Okini means thank you in Kansai, hidari means left, and migi means right, kawa means river, and cheeky means skebe.

I could write a book but it's bed time on this side:)

It's nice you want to learn japanese.

but random phrases and words will not get you far.

If you really want to learn.

There are awesome threads, you can ask me or anyone else who studys, fluent or a native speaker of japanese.
