If you are doing Manga on Manga-sized paper you should get used to thinking in MM, not inches. 12x11 3/4 is too small for American comics which are drawn on 11x17inch paper. The manga sized paper is 257mm(10 3/16) x 361mm (14 3/16). The safe zone where all the word balloons need fit into is 180mm x 270mm. Get some swimming lessons before you dive in.
