A tourist visa and a work visa are two different things. A person with a tourist visa cannot work legally in Japan. This applies for every job.
Theoretically you could leave and come back on the next plane, but I understand this popular move is not being rubber-stamped as it was in the past, and it is possible you would not be accepted back in so quickly.
