314 dollars for 7 days is a lot, unless you are doing quite a bit of city-to-city travels. If you are just going to be in and around Tokyo for a week, you would be hard-pressed to spend half that, and will still probably be shelling out for subways, etc.

If you are just hanging around Tokyo it is certainly not worth it but one round trip Shinkansen trip to Hiroshima from Tokyo would pay for that in its entirety.
