well the old testament said "An eye for an eye" but christ preached

"Turn the other cheek"

If we always returned exactly what we received good or bad?

Isn't that what causes War.

I guess we get what we deserve. If we are soft and allow people to take advantage of us-- then its our own fault if we are walked all over.

There needs to be a balance really-- give and take--

It is better to give than to receive.

I do not know enough about buddhism but isn't that about behaving well and going through many incarnations until we might-- if ever-- reach Nirvana.
