I don't think that one is true. Slurping soup or noodles it ok but I think burping after a meal is a Nordic custom.. I tried to google for an answer to be sure but I didn't find anything that specifically mentioned burping after meals.
I think the important thing is to tell your host that you really enjoyed the meal and the effort they put into it.
Simply saying, "Gochisoo-sama" after the meal is appropriate.
