Phrases you get sick of hearing.
 

I thought this might be an interesting thread to make. What are some phrases that you hear in anime that just get used over and over again so much that you're sick of hearing it, whether it be just something one character uses a lot or something that just gets used over and over again in a particular genre? For me it would have to be everytime I hear Natsumi from Keroro Gunso say Bokae Kaeru to Keroro, or Stupid Frog if you want an English translation. Do I really need to hear that every single episode? Ok... Keroro can do some stupid stuff and we already know you think he's stupid. We get the idea. If I somehow actually counted from episode 1 to the current fansubbed episode how many times I've heard that, I bet it would be near the triple digits.

This can get on my nerves, it happens in a lot of anime but I get sick of it, lovers repeating each others names:

Scenes like:
"...Tamahome" :rheart: - Miaka

i don't know about phrases, but i hate rhythmic laughing.

which continues on for the whole scene.

When I say I don't want kids, people always look at me in that 'awwwww' way and say, 'You'll change your mind when your older.'

It's not in anime, but hey, it's a phrase!

Ones I don't like in anime though, is when they constantly repeat KAWAIIIIIIII too much, much like the OMFGZ IM AZN people at my school.

the one that really annoyed me was the one in rosario + vampire where for like five minutes the main characters were like repeating their names over and over again at each other....

im being brain dead, But when that one girl

like every ten seconds

i hate it in animes when they start with their love and friendship talk and how it prevails...ugh! it annoys me!!

Well it is a very common Japanese phrase. Everyday as I get ready to leave for work my fiance says "oshigoto ganbatte" which roughly translates to "at work do your best". "Ganbatte" can be translated at "don't give up" as well; it is a versatile word that doesn't really have an English equivalent.

it's not a phrase, but I hate it when the camera goes back between 2 people over and over. an example is Bleach ep. 121, with Keigo's sister and Ikkaku. that particular part was funny though, but all other times it's seriously annoying XP

I guess phrase-wise though, it would have to be dattebayo and believe it

lol in fruits basket when kyo and yuki are always saying "damn rat" and "stupid cat" do i really needed to be reminded every episode of what zodiac animal they are or how much they hate each other? :) and also the overly rediculous character like rock lee or gai....(insert sweat drop there) even at my overly hyper and stupid mode i dont even get like that...lol

Loads of stuff in Naruto like when he says things like 'DONT WORRY I'LL DO MY BEST' and then every character repeats it throughout the episode and your just sat there like -__-"
And it's not really a phrase but in Death Note Misa always goes 'Eh?' 'Huh?' or something along those lines in a high voice and it gets on my nerves.

Lol.. that's like being annoyed by the words "stupid", "what", "ouch" and "the/a" :D

Wouldn't lots of sentences be messed up without some of those words...

i don't know...well i don't care either, i hear them so much, it's annoying.

I somehow don't get tired of "Believe It!" But it's probably actually because I say it myself....-sweatdrop- I like catchphrases...Sue me, Kill me, I do.

I know this is not in anime but when anime is advertized as in stores, it drives me nuts.

YES! "Believe it!!!" and "Dattebayo!!!" is done unto death. My solution is to not watch Naruto or to turn off the sound and read the subtitles.

Hmn. I know those shows where there are always these busty under-age looking girls wearing ridiculously short skirts squealing, "Dame!!!" or "Dame-yo!!!" or "Yamete!!!" get on my nerves after awhile...

Or Dragonball Z, where half the episode seems to consist of Songoku making those constipated noises while he tries to summon his next Super Saiyan mode. Makes my stomach hurt. :angryblob:

...people who literally cannot form sentences without using "like" at least five times just make me want to yell "It's not 'like' something! It either 'is" or it 'isn't'!"

And most of the time it's young girls saying it. Doesn't make them appear intelligent in the slightest. But in this era of ignorant arrogance being not only encouraged but rewarded, it's not much of an issue.

I agree with everything thus far xD But who the heck watches Naruto in English? I guess if you think Naruto should sound like a lesbian. BELIEVE IT!

The worst has to be the name repeating, ganbare (we get it already), the cocky talk (I'm going to be the greatest ___!), or "believe in your friends!", or the Dragonballz grunting. Oh, and "baeeeaaaakuh". Gross.

I think the most annoying thing in Shojo and especially romance animes is when the most retarded dramatic things happen. Like, let's say, One say someone is perfectly fine, next day, in the hospital dying. Things like that annoy me.


Nothing to do with IN anime here, But I hate it how people are always telling me "Ohh, you and your boyfriend's story is just like an anime!!! OMG!!1!!!one" It's annoying. >.> JUST because there is a little drama doesn't mean it's like an anime. *sigh*

"ZOMG Charlie iz HAWT" I heard that all last week. And I'm sick of it, not from an anime but meh.

At my school, they're always saying "no duh" and saying "That's so gay" to represent it being stupid. I'm really trying hard to get out of the habit since I'm a supporter of gays! They also used to say "duh dur dur". It was stupid!
