There's a short recap at the beginning of each story installment in the second issue, so you won't be *completely* lost. May not help much, but there it is.

How big is the magazine? Is it larger than Shojo Beat, or is it really tiny?

Thanks for reading!

There's more pages so it's thicker, but the length and width is somewhat smaller than Shojo Beat. Almost 500 pages long.

Sorry if I'm bugging you with nonsense...

How much does it cost to buy in store and to buy through subscription?

I also think it might be thick right now is because the first two or three chapters of every manga is a lot longer to establish the plot.

Thanks for reading!

Nine bucks US on the newsstand, and the subscription ad states a 53% discount...an oddly exact number to my eyes.

Yeah, it's only going to have the third issue coming out this month, we'll see if the page count goes down from then on.

Thanks for the info. I really need to run to Borders and get this now. I don't have to go to the magazines in stores anymore because I have like twenty billion magazine subscriptions. Recently I said goodbye to NintendoPower... It focuses way too much on stupid games and the DS... *cry*

It does have almost double the manga in Shojo Beat, but lacks all of the extra features (DIY, cooking, cultural sections, etc.). Yen Plus is more of a serialization magazine and less of a full on Japanese culture magazine, you know? Not that I don't love Shojo Beat, but they have so many great manga, and it'd be nice to see more than six, with a preview or two. If you don't like two of the manga they're serializing at the time, and don't care about the extra fluff, then half the magazine is of no interest to you.

But then, as I said, I haven't read any of the Yen Plus installments yet, so I don't know how much I'll like them, yet.

Yen Press - 10-09-2008, 10:53 PM

I like Yen Press better then Shonen Jump later Shonen Jump has been cutting a manga short every month to extend Naruto which is so stupid after Yuyu Hackasho is done I am going to stop buying them I really hate that the are not giving all there manga's equal face time
