Guilty Pleasures
 

Does anybody have a manga/anime that they are fans of, but even just the slightest bit embarrassed to admit it?

For me I would have to say that it's Sailor Moon (the original series, cheesiness and all). It's actually my first anime (saw it when I was in first or second grade) and I really liked it then, so I guess it has just kinda stuck. I'm an 18 year old guy, so I find it a little embarrassing to admit that I still like it (on top of that I had a huge crush on Sailor Mercury back in the day). So is there anyone else out there with a guilty anime/manga pleasure?

the closest thing that i can say...is the fact that i read fushigi yugi from beginning to end.

Probably Hokuto No Ken, just for the fact that it doesn't make much sense... BUT I LOVE IT!!! I can't explain why, either it's the big amount of blood or the corny story, I just love it...

Well, I'm generally quite open about the series I watch and read...

But, for the longest time, I hid the fact that I absolutely LOVED the Gravitation series.

I own all the 遙かなる時空の中で manga, the DVDs, and almost all the games (PS, PS2, PSP).

It was Baby & Me...but the end of the 2nd volume was so depressing i stopped buying them...there are a few chapters that i have in some back issues of Shojo Beat

now it prolly has to be "One Piece"...so damn addicting!

The first season of Pokemon :o

Paradise Kiss. Regardless of what people think of the characters, I just melt every time I read it. Even though it's not my favorite series, it's really heart wrenching.

I also need to add Loveless. Not my top favorite either, but I hate shounen-ai and yaoi, and I love it. The emotions and dedication Soubi has to protect Ritsuka is admirable.

Haha really? That makes me feel better. But I couldn't really help it, she has that cute genius thing going on, and the cool blue hair.

I'll add another one to the list. I don't actually watch it regularly, but if I start watching an episode of YuGiOh, I just can't stop. I have no idea why. They just start busting out monsters left and right with their ridiculously set-up strategies and I'm hooked.

My goodness... You remind me of my bff J. Even though we're too old for it, she loves YuGiOh!! I agree that it's entertaining, but the way it is in English... :eek:

Haha yeah I agree. I've never seen it in anything but English, but it is too cheesy to put into words. It's a crime that it's so addictive.

when i was younger i was really into Pokemon, Digimon, Zoids, DBZ, Yu-Gi-Oh (tomboy alert?) but never got into anything like Sailor Moon...:o
that has changed slightly over the years, however i still do enjoy Pokemon :)

Still watch Yu-Gi-Oh...and Digimon (which reminds me...new series of that one).Though, because of my reputation with my friends I cannot get away with watching aynthing without mecha in it...they just think I'm watching something more.....esotrenic...

Yeah Sailor Moon was my first too. I haven't watched Pokemon in forever, but my little brother still watches it. From what I've seen I don't particularly care for the new ones though. Misty was way cooler than the new girl.

sailor jupiter > sailor mercury. Sorry, but that's the way it is.
Malachite is better than both of them, though.

I'd say the Pokémon anime, even though it has a horrid main character and team rocket doing the same thing in every episode. Four words:
"We're blasting off agaaaaaaaaaaiin!!"

NO WAY. Did she have a super cool computer thingy? Nuh-uh. Brainy AND beautiful? I don't think so. Besides, she was too darn grouchy.

Well in secret I've watched Sailor Moon (thought Sailor Mercury was kinda cute), Cardcaptor Sakura (hey, its all payed off with clamps latest series tie-ins), and DN Angel (....I have no excuse for this one, I'm a sap)

I liked Evangelion, but there are some that would butcher for saying that, so i keep silent.

I guess you can say I'm a little embarassed to admit it... But ridicule is only a small price to pay for the enjoyment. I love Pokemon. :)
