This is one of many reasons I would rather live in a country that is not big on religion. Thoughts like this are just too widespread where I live...

Anything that brings pleasure to kids and adults is a sin in some denomination of Christianity.

what you have here is a TV preacher, not a representation of Christianity.

comes down to personal conviction, which means something good for you, may not be for another, and vice versa.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! POKEMON!!!! seriously there was this one lady and i was at her daycare center when i was little and she was ooberly religious (witch really isn't bad, but any who) my little bro brought over his pokemon cards and she took them away saying that they are evil and that we as kids shouldn't be playing with them. it was ridiculous. at the end of the day though he got his cards back and we still brought them in and played with it. our parents obviously didn't have a problem w/ them so that was that. Y would u tell a 10 year old that??? come on it was our hopes and dreams to become a pokemon master that day and she ruined it!
P.S. digimon was ok except for the fact that they all had "mon" at the end of thier name. wat was with that anyway?

AGAIN, what's with letting a thread that bashes Christianity exist when the rules do NOT allow religious topics? This thread really has nothing to due with pokemon, instead it mocks a religion (where as the person actaully being mocked, is a tv preacher that right there should tell you something). When he starts talking about children being able to Draw witchcraft. I've watched the series myself and I DO NOT see a connection to witchcraft. One term you could call it "legalism" Where rules supersede everything, and if you don't abide by those rules set by some folk in the church you a heathen (making it a requirement to dress in Sunday best... yeah) the bible teaches personal conviction, that if you totally fine playing Pokemon thing go right ahead. If you actually somehow fell like going spirit summoning you need to put it down and walk away (even if you not a Christian that should reign true..) Personal conviction is just that, YOUR conviction, don't put your self onto others... (just to make things clear there stands the ten commandments, and this so you should be able to figure that out for yourself)

You cannot talk about this topic without bringing religion up and discussing that.

Wait, this is new? When I was younger my mother would forbid me from watching the show saying it was evil and horrible (now it's something we laugh over). She wasn't Christian, Catholic, Jewish, etc. So, it's more an ignorance issue (I'd think) than a religious one.

You should download/buy all the pokemon episodes now, and watch them in front of your mother:D

I agree with iphantom though, the anime was a load of rubbish. The games however have entertained me for more hours than I could possibly count. Saying that though, Diamond/Pearl was the nail in the coffin for me. They shouldn't have made more pokemon!

Story wasn't bad though I guess..

Well, anime wise Digimon pwns Pokemon, with the 1st and 3rd being super. Great story, character development. Pokemon is just repetitive.

As for games, Digimon handheld games suck big times. However, Digimon World 2 and 3 for PSone are fantastic. You should check them out. they became quite popular at the time.

i feel so behind...i have yet to get any of the Pokemon ds games...T_T

I remember this old lady would not let us in her house with an onyx card because it was a serpent like the form satan took while tempting eve.lmao that is pretty crazy.

There are a couple of things wrong with Pokemon, but it's not Satan.

One, there are kids wandering around the woods looking for helpless creatures to capture from the wild and trap them in a little ball. That sounds like animal abuse. In this cartoon there are no stranger dangers in the woods to kidnap these children and sodomize them. That's pretty lucky!

Then the kids make these creatures battle each other until they pass out or are badly injured. That's horrible! If it's illegal to have rooster fighting and dog fighting, why is it ok to battle Pokemon?

And if the Pokemon don't evolve fast enough, they can use magic crystals to force them to! Isn't that right up there with hormone enhancers? Which is illegal for race horses.

To tell you the truth It's really stupid. I mean whats the hole point in it any way?

The anime and the videogames are harmless. The manga can be a bit violent though, what with pokemon getting murdered (I remember a pair Magmars were frozen solid by a Cloister and then shattered...scary reading that when I was 8).

Well, if Pokemon teaches kids to worship Satan, what about all of the AMERICAN children's shows nowadays? They're pretty Satan-Worshippy if you ask me, moreso than Pokemon could ever be. *Cough*YoGabbaGabba*Cough*

i am a christian myself and i understand what the man is saying about psychic things. we need to be careful that we dont take an interest too much in things like magic and stuff, but i dont think pokemon really shows witchcraft or anything.
as with most non christian things, you have to be wary of what you are watching, but you also have to make sure you dont take things too far, i mean that man was saying rock music was bad, when i know for a fact that if used in the right way, can be a beautiful way of worshipping God. there will always be good and bad things about everything, and as i am a human, i dont know for sure sometimes, so as a christian what i would do is pray and do whatever God says.
i think pokemon has some good things to it, like teaching you to love each other, work together and fight agaisnt evil. the first movie gives the message that we shouldnt judge people (or pokemon in that case!) just based on who they were born form or what we look like, which, i believe, would be something Jesus would teach!
so i understand the mans view, but i do think he has taken it to the very extreme, because at the ned of the day, you can see the things that really are bad and avoid them, and you can pick anything to pieces and make it bad even if its okay

There's nothing wrong with pokemon, magic, rock or whatever he may be preaching about at any point or any circumstance as long as you can seperate reality from fantasy... if it happens that you can't then it's more broken psyche issue than it is pokemon (or whatever "thing" you're obsessed about) :rolleyes:

For radicals, religion comes before logic.

If Pokemon is evil, then any movie that has a beer drinking scene, smoking scene, etc. is more so.
