It's a shame that when some people hear that metal can cause slight empowerment, they think that their power level will finally get to be over 9000.

lol. yeah, there are some idiot out there xD but you get the idea. what i meant was, find some music that's empowering, whether it be pop or whatever.

look up "Leah Andreone"

that woman's helped me so much during some dark times, her lyrics are encouraging and empowering. it's so out of my little genre of music, but i love her <3

DragonForce cures all.

Self-inflicted pain can be a "release of stress," or so I've heard. Either that or it's done in order to feel more "alive" or something, which is still lame. You shouldn't hurt yourself no matter what unless you have an uncontrollable mental illness.

its true, shouldnt do it no matter what. but some people dont realise this, some people do believe it does relieve them of the shit in their life, but it doesnt. and some people dont realise this till they do it themselves. but yeah. it is stupid. really stupid.

and i dont think you need to have uncontrollable mental illness. depression can push some people into suicide mode or self hate mode, which can lead to self inflicted pain.
people just need to take a closer look at their lives and see that its not pointless, that they're not worthless, and get a hobby =P

If they like to fell pain just for the sheer feeling of it, sure, masoquism is a legitimate thing, but doing it just for attention its just stupid, you don't like so why are you doing? Just so you can hang around the "cool kids"? I say, go home and stay there, you are spilling blood all over my new shirt... GO!!! RIGHT NOW!!!
But you got to give them credit for making slashes and bruises look as cool as weed... xD

Nah, it's a bit pointless in my opinion. Your body is a beautiful thing and I came to realise that after a number of years. I was never a self harmer so I can't really comment but I can't imagine it's very helpful. I don't think it's setting a great example but if you're stupid enough to see that and imitate it then it's not just the band that's to blame.

I don't agree with it, but I don't believe Kyo ever did it cause he thought it was cool. It was his way of releasing emotions/feelings, that's my understanding.

I know full well Rei doesn't like Diru, judging from recent posts, so I'm automatically on the defensive when she brings up Kyo. I happen to love and respect him, and can't be impartial, when comments about him are made.

Doesn't matter what people do it for, it's obviously not healthy. Ever heard of bloodletting? People thought it was ok at the time, thinking it would release stress and "bad blood." Obviously that isn't the case. Self-inflicted wounds do nothing of the sort, and release of emotion should come from the heart, not the cuts on your skin.

I agree. I am only saying I am not going to hold it against him, and stuff.

Isn't music a way to release your emotions? So why did he need to cut himself up to do so? Music not good enough?
