What about the case of Issei Sagawa, a Japanese college student in France?

He was caught trying to dispose of her remains in a local park and arrested by French police, then later sent to an insane asylum. However, his wealthy father was able to get Issei deported to an asylum in Japan, where he only stayed 15 MONTHS before being released a free man.

What really makes this story sick and demented, is the fact that Japanese society (overall) literally EMBRACED this man. Instead of being socially shunned for his actions, he became a minor celebrity, openly discussing his crime on talk shows and radio broadcasts in exchange for money.

To this day he is still a free man living in Japan, without a care in the world…

I saw his documentary on a show called "Most Evil", and simply could not believe what I was hearing as they described this unspeakable injustice. I simply can't imagine what Renée's family and friends were and still are going through because of this.

This is the ultimate form of injustice in my opinion, because not only did he serve such a small sentence, he actually benefited financially and socially for what he did.

Oddly enough, I didn't find that article as horrific or shocking as the 'schoolgirl in concrete', and I think that's mainly as the woman was shot and all the acts happened after her death. There was no real suffering per se on her part, whereas in the other article I can't even imagine the trauma of the girl who went through that prior to her death.

That said for someone to kill a person is unforgiveable, and for the man to do what he did afterwards is simply sick, twisted and incomprehensible. He was clearly insane, and obviously a danger to society, what he did was plain wrong. I can't understand how they released him from the mental institute! He should be kept in there for life. How he became a minor celebrity in Japan I don't know. To make someone a celebrity after doing something so sick and twisted . . . it seems backwards to me, like people cheering at the hangings in the Revolution, or people getting excited as Christians were fed to the lions. The woman was killed and what happened after was horrific, how anyone could find that entertaining is beyond me.

I pray these women are in paradise now, far away from this pain and suffering, I pray that these families will find justice and peace. I pray the culprits find life long misfortune until they truly realize their crime . . .then if they regret it, I pray they do something about it! I pray fro justice!

EDIT: As far as the manga goes, I'll admit, I sometimes imagine up stories that put fictional characters through similar deaths as some real life people, I haven't used neither of these, but I would never think of publishing any of them for money benefit! Their stories were meant to send a message yes, but not in a way that people can make a living off of it!

@ RobinMask

You've got a point. The "Schoolgirl in Concrete" case should be considered more horrific since Junko Furuta endured those atrocities before her death instead of after, like Renée Hartevelt.

It just shocked me how the public reacted to Issei's actions. At least Japan's judicial system fought to properly punish those boys for what they did to Junko. No one in Japan even tried to protest Issei's release.

They both happened roughly around the same time, so I don't get why the responses to each crime were so different...

Oh I believe we had a thread on that not too long ago . . .

the fact is, same nature abuse, tirany and murdering happen on a daily bases, and quite many cases will never get noticed anywhere

anyway what makes me sad the most about the ppl who are willing to harm and kill, that they always choose their victims on a same bases... someone who cannot payback. so usually this is innocent women and kids. which renders the offenders as pretty cheap and weak loosers.

maybe this sounds crazy, but i would be glad if somehow human genoma could be modified the way, so if someone is gonna born as a brutal killer, then he would only get attracted by ppl representing higher power than they are, thus real challenge. so common targets of brutal murders would become corrupted politicians and mafia members, you know this sort of ppl. if that could somehow be truth, i think it would be pretty interesting

This is so sad, and the worst thing is that these type of crimes are not something that happen once every 10 years.

For example my country, Mexico.
Right now we are one of the most violent countries that is not at war. And that is, if we are not already number 1.
This country is basically controlled by the organized crime, and they mess with everyone it doesn't matter if you are rich or poor, innocent or guilty.

Things like the girl in concrete happens everyday, innocent people is killed by them and if you were kidnapped (that is pretty common here) it doesn't matter if your family pays for your rescue, you will appear dead, tortured and in many cases mutilated.
Kids, Women they don't care.

Its a shame people like this exists, but is a 100 times sadder that this happens to people that has nothing to do with it and that they just want to live their lives.
